Come July 1, here the beautiful state of CA, you will no longer be able to talk on the cell phone while driving, unless its hands free, otherwise a fix-it ticket. So, okay, I get it, just too many accidents from peeps taking their eye off the road. But here is the kicker, its not illegal to text message while driving. Go figure.

Yep! Got my blue tooth ready. It's a pain as I have to keep charging it all the time.

You can do what ever you want too.

Stop listening to what Congress tells you you can and can't do.

I've been making my own laws for years. For example,. i don't have car insurance because I knows it's a big scam and I have saved thousands because of this.

You have to deicide for yourself what is a law and what isn't. The government has proved they aren't bright enough to do this.

Come on they "work" 2 months of the year and in that time, they mess with if an NFL coach is stealing signals and who in MLB took steroids 10 years ago and now its time to mess with if fags should be married or not.

You decide what is law. That is a democracy

I've lost count of the # of times that I've damn near been side-swiped in the last year by some DF on their cell phone. If they aren't all over the highway, they're in the left lane going 10 miles under the speed limit.

The worst offenders seem to be women. I had one a couple months ago that about drifted me right into the median wall. I threw a few coins out my passenger side window to get her attention & she freaked out so bad, she dropped her phone & damn near went off the highway into the ditch.

F'ing idiot

I think that is a really bad law.

It's not holding the phone that is the problem, its the distraction of the conversation. If they want to have a law it should make it illegal to talk on the phone even if it's hands free. Even though they would have no way of catching you they should at least ackknowlege that.

This may be the coolest post I have ever read of yours, TTinco.

My cousin lives near DC and he keeps a huge jar of pennies in the passenger seat and whenever someone rides his ass without a good reason, he throws handfuls out the sunroof at them.

DT, I was pretty much screwed....rush hour traffic going about 65 & I'm 3 feet left out of my lane & hugging the concrete barrier. Boxed in front & back and this dumb broad just kept drifting over.

Scared the f'ing shit out of me. I was seconds from a "do I eat the wall or drill her" decision. It was that bad.

According to experts, talking on the phone is no more problematic than talking to someone in the car-they site the way people use their hands, etc.

this is the most ridiculous statement I have ever read.. if i did not have car insurance I would be completely fucked having had two cars totaled from other peoples mistakes.. sure there are dumb laws and scams, but anyone who had been in a major accident is thankful for insurance.

THat is fine if you aren't worth more than the money in your pocket and the clothes on your back. For some of us that own homes and have other equity, it would be nuts to drive uninsured.

California used to be such a fine state.
Here'e another example of a tax masquerading as a law.

As someone already mentioned, it's not the holding of the phone, it's conversing that is the real distraction.

If distractions are a danger, why not pass a law against eating, drinking, listening to the radio, or god forbid conversing with your passenger?
